Integrally finned tubes (Integron™)
are low finned tubes where the fin is spirally extruded from a
thick walled tube. This creates an extended surface to the outer
surfaces of the tube, increasing the
surface area and heat transfer capability. Optionally, the
inner surface of the tube can also be
integrally finned, usually with a much longer pitch in order to
turbulate the medium flowing through the tube.
The tubes can be used
in straight, ‘U’ shaped or coil configurations depending on the
application and design constraints. The ‘U’ shape or coil
configurations require tube manipulation machinery to
manufacture the desired form which is carried out once the tube
has been finned. When an integrally finned tube is used in a
heat exchanger, the overall design can be made smaller or in the
case of re-manufacture or re-tubing of an existing unit, can be
made more efficient for the same size design. |
Applied Cooling Technology manufactures integrally
finned tubes in a variety
of materials and in tube sizes range from 5/8” to 1”.
