Compact exchangers with low weight, high strength and assured
performance over the long term are of specific interest to the
Aerospace Industry. These are inherent features of ElfinBlock
finned heat exchangers.
A good example is the all-Titanium micro-bore matrix constructed
from 3 mm dia tubes which has been well received by
engineers. The merits of the Elfin construction, available in
almost any combination of fin and tube material, are many and
varied.
With a strong, uniform interference-fit bond and precise
overlapped fin root, long-term performance and protection are
assured. The matrix is inherently rigid, facilitating rapid
assembly of tube bundles.
Individual support clips, as used on round finned tubes, are
replaced with integral self support systems. Sagging tubes and
intermeshing fins are obviated, thereby maintaining performance
in the field. |

The uniformity and precision of the fins also facilitates a
further level of size reduction. This arises by virtue of the
fact that performance enhancement techniques can be applied,
with the assurance that theoretical performance can be
reproduced in the field and maintained over the long term on an
on-going basis.
We believe the Elfin plate-fin matrix should be of considerable
interest to the Aerospace Industry, where compact designs, low
weight and assured performance are vital. |
